CEBU CITY, Philippines — After the recent Penang Challenger, the Cebu Chooks 3×3 squad will shift its attention to the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 International Standalone Quest that takes place tomorrow, Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Ayala Malls Solenade in Manila.
Cebu Chooks faltered in the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Penang Challenger in Malaysia on Sunday, September 11, 2022, after losing to the United States Princeton,17-22.
However, they have renewed optimism to top the local 3×3 competition as they take on two other sister teams in Manila Chooks and Butuan Chooks.
Adding challenge to the tournament is the presence of Mongolia’s Zaisan MMC Energy and Japan’s Saitama Alphas.
Cebu Chooks will be comprised of Cebuano crafty guard and the country’s No. 1 3×3 player, Mac Tallo, along with No. 3 Brandon Ramirez, No. 29 Vince Tolentino, and the returning import, Mike Nzeusseu.
Nzeusseu wasn’t able to play in the Penang Challenger due to visa issues.
“Siyempre kailangan namin manalo,” said Tallo.
(Of course, we want to win.)
“Malaking selebrasyon ito para sa Chooks-to-Go at kay Boss Ronald. Sana maulit namin yung nagawa namin nung Super Quest ngayong Biyernes,” he said.
(It is a big celebration for Chooks-to-Go and Boss Ronald. We hope we can repeat what we did in the Super Quest this Friday.)
The Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 International Standalone Quest and the upcoming Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3×3 World Tour Cebu Masters at the SM Seaside City Cebu next month culminates the jubilee year of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., the mother company of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3.
“As part of our 25th anniversary, we have two key events for sports — the first is the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 International Quest which will be the start of our athletes’ journey towards the Cebu Masters. And we are planning a lot of surprises for both tournaments,” said Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas.
This level eight tournament has a US$10,000 purse and a slot for the Cebu Masters next month for the champion. The second-place team will bag $5,000 and a qualifying draw slot for the Cebu Masters.
