CEBU CITY, Philippines — A total of 805 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P96, 600 were seized from a 23-year-old man during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, past 6 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022.
Police Major Kenneth Paul Albotra, chief of Carbon Police Station, identified the suspect as Renzo Alferez, 23, a resident of Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City. Alferez allegedly sourced his items from Toledo City.
In an interview, Albotra said that there is a possibility that the suspect resorted to the selling of marijuana possibly to earn money as he has no job.
Alferez is currently detained at Carbon Police Station as of this posting.
For now, Albotra said that they are currently monitoring the alleged boss of Alferez, who is responsible for taking dried marijuana from Toledo City to Cebu City.
Albotra begged off to name this individual first pending their follow-up operation.
“Iyang mga customer, iya ra pod mga amigo, kaila rapod niya. Naa siyay amo nga naa sa Cebu City, in fact, mao na ang atoang gi monitor,” he said.
(His customers were mostly his friends, they know each other. He has a boss in Cebu City, in fact, we are monitoring him.)
Albotra said that Alferez can dispose of at least 800 grams of dried marijuana leaves in two weeks.
He added that they are currently processing the needed documents now and will possibly file the appropriate charges on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
