CEBU CITY, Philippines — With the series of upcoming activities and gatherings for the Christmas and New Year seasons to the return of the in-person celebration of Sinulog in January 2023, local authorities in Cebu City have issued reminders for safety and security for bars, malls, restaurants, and other establishments.

Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, vice chairman of the city council’s Committee on Public Order, gathered owners and operators of various hotels, bars, malls, and other private establishments together with safety and security officers in a coordination meeting at Cebu City Hall on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Among the salient points of their discussion, he said, is their reminder of the private establishments to ensure safe entry and exit points for the public.

Garganera said also present during the meeting were personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection to remind establishment owners to ensure safety of their power lines.

“I-recheck pod na nila ang ilang mga electrical connections, lines nila, i check g’yod na kay taas man g’yod kaayo ang atong kunsomo niana,” he said.

The councilor said that with the establishment operators individually ensuring safety in their places can help the police authorities secure safety and security in the city.

Cebu City, he said, will augment police forces from other local government units for the Sinulog 2023.
