JAILED and facing murder charges for his wife’s death, inmate Ulysses Angtud has found love even behind bars.
Marko Toral, consultant of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), confirmed yesterday that Angtud will marry the female visitor of his co-inmate.
The marriage will be held days before Angtud will be transferred to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, Toral said.
On Valentine’s Day last Saturday, the Cebu provincial government allowed the families of the inmates to stay overnight with them.
“Gibuhat ni nato kay taga lagyo man god ni ang uban, maayo na lang makauban pod nila ilang mga minahal nga naa sa prisuhan (We did this because the families live far away. It’s better for them to stay with their loved ones in jail),” Toral said.
There were 2,300 inmates in CPDRC, divided into 2,200 male and 100 female detainees.
Their families were allowed to stay in the jail from 9 a.m. last Saturday to 3 p.m. yesterday.
In December last year, the CPDRC allowed their inmates to spend Christmas and New Year with their families./Correspondent Melissa Q. Cabahug
