CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 25-year-old motorcycle driver was injured after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at a street corner along F. Cabahug St. in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City at past 5 a.m. today, September 3.
Police Staff Sergeant Jacinto Arnado, traffic investigator of the Mabolo Police Station, said that initial investigation showed that the SUV driver, a Chinese national, who was identified as 29-year-old Yang Tengda, was driving without a driver’s license, when the accident happened.

Motorcycle driver rushed to hospital
Arnado also identified the victim as Kevin Gacusan of Barangay Ibabao-Estancia in Mandaue City.
Gacusan was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, but Yang heeded the advice of Arnado and transferred the victim to the Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City for faster treatment of the victim.
Yang, who currently lives in a condominium in Cebu City, said that the SUV was owned by a friend.

SUV driver, motorcycle driver settled amicably
Arnado also said that Yang and Gacusan had settled amicably after Yang promised to shoulder all the medical expenses and the damage to the motorcycle.
“Regarding sa injured ug sa damage sa motor, e-settle ra man niya nagkasinabot naman to si Kerwin ug katong driver (Chinese). Nagsettle ra sila,” the police traffic investigator said.
(Regarding the injured and the damage of the motorcycle, Kerwin and the driver (Chinese) agreed to settle amicably. They settled it amicably.)

SUV impounded
“Nagsabot ra sila. Mogasto ra man tong Insik sa injury ug sa damage sa motor,” Arnado said.
(They talked it among themselves. The Chinese would shoulder the expenses to treat the motorcycle driver’s injury and the damage to the motorcycle.)
The police traffic investigator, however, said Yang’s SUV, a Ford Expedition, was impounded by traffic enforcers of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), and the Chinese national was also issued a citation ticket for driving without a license.

How it happened
Initial investigation showed that Kevin Gacusan and his twin brother, Kerwin, were driving separate motorcycles and heading to Panagdait Road with Kevin leading and Kerwin following his brother.
This was at 5:40 a.m., but when they reached the area near a hotel in F. Cabahug Street in Cebu City, Kevin’s motorcycle collided with Yang’s SUV near the corner of F. Cabahug St. and Almendras St. in Mabolo City.

SUV waiting to be towed to impounding area
Yang was heading in the opposite direction and heading towards Almendras St.
The impact of the crash threw Kevin off his motorcycle, and he landed hard on the pavement.
He suffered injuries in his body due to the collision and hard fall after the crash.
Arnado said that the SUV driven by Yang was parked at the Mabolo Police Station, which will be towed by the CCTO tow truck from there to the the CCTO impounding area at the South Road Properties.
