Husband arrested with mistress
The husband, who was arrested together with his 21-year-old mistress this morning in the mistress’s house, in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, said that he had had enough of his wife not appreciating his sacrifices.
He also told police that he knew that his wife would have him arrested if he would sleep in his girlfriend’s house.
“Para matuman iyaha’ng gusto. Gibuhat nako iyaha’ng gusto para mapa-priso ko niya. Kahibawo naman ko kung unsa mahitabo sa ako kung naa ko didto (mistress’ house),” said the husband.
(This is so his wish will be granted. I did what she wanted me to do so that she can put me in prison. I know what will happen if I am there (mistress house).)

Married to wife for 23 years
The arrested husband said that he had been married with his wife for 23 years and they had four children.
But things went sour in their relationship when he found it really hard to satisfy his wife with regards to his work and sacrifices.
He said that he worked in Saudi Arabia for 10 years. He claimed that he always sent money to his wife, who would allegedly always complain about the money he sent to her.

Nagging on how small money he sent
“Sige siya og ingun og kuwang bisan akoa siya gipasabot nga mao ra na ang rate nako. Mao ra ni ang convert sa peso. Manghuwam na lang ko para makapadala sa iyaha,” the arrested husband said.
(She would always say that the money was not enough even if I would let her understand that that was the rate that I had. It is only that much when we convert it to peso. I would even borrow money so that I can send something to her.)
When he returned to the Philippines, the husband claimed that his wife never stopped complaining and nagging him.

Arrested husband: This all starts with her
“Sa iya ra man sad nagsugod ang tanan. Siya ra man sad nagbugnaw sa akoa. Wala ko kahibaw unsay sala nako sa iyaha, puro ra siya kwenta nako tanan,” he said.
(All of this started with her. She was the one who first went cold in her relationship with me. I don’t know what I did wrong to her, all she did was to count what I did.)
“Bisan asa na lang ko nagtrabaho, balewala ra sa iyaha ang tanan. Wala niya na-appreciate. Sige og pangkwenta nga buot niya nga siya ang nagbuhi namo,” he said.
(I have worked anywhere I could, and she had taken all these for granted. She did not appreciate what I did. She would always count on what I did that it seemed like she was the one who would want to be the one to raise the family.)

Why he had an affair
“Lisod man sad og akoang dapatan. Ako na gibuhat iya gusto mapapriso ko. Mensahe nako niya nga unta malipay na siya kay mao man ni iya gusto nga makita ko nga naglisod-lisod,” he added.
(I cannot hit her. So I did what she wanted me to do so that I can go to prison. My message to her is this, I hope you are happy now that you see me in my situation.)
The arrested husband also said that there were also allegedly times when his 48-year-old wife would not come home, but he could not tell yet if she had an affair.
He said that all he had was hearsay and he had no evidence regarding this.

Still willing to fix relationship
However, the husband said that he would be willing to rekindle the relationship with his wife if he would forgive him.
However, concubinage charges were being readied against the husband and his mistress.
With this, Police Lieutenant Colonel Franco Rudolf Oriol, deputy city director for administration and spokesperson of the Mandaue City Police Office, said he would encourage married couples to not be involved in any affair and instead communicate with other, discuss and solve whatever problems there were facing.
