The Gilas Pilipinas teams begin their 5×5 basketball campaigns at the Asian Games 2022 in 2023 starting September 26 in several venues in Hangzhou, China.

In men’s basketball, 16 teams are divided into four groups of four. The men’s Gilas team, slotted in Group C with Jordan, Bahrain and Thailand, will battle in a single round-robin in the preliminaries.

The top team per group will get an outright slot in the knockout quarterfinals while the second and third-best teams per group will figure in qualification for the remaining playoff berths.

In the women’s side, 12 teams including Gilas women, who will face Kazakhstan, Hongkong, and Japan, will figure in the group stage with the top two teams per group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the KO phase.

It is the first time that the Philippines team is sending a squad in the women’s basketball competition.

The medal rounds and the men’s final ranking games are set for October 5 and 6.
