By: Apple Ta-as, Rene Alima March 15,2015 - 12:21 AM

A 42-year-old man detained in the Dalaguete Police Station collapsed and died in his cell on  Friday.

Joel Amaba was declared dead by doctors of the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital.

The doctors said Amaba had a fatal heart attack.

Police said Amaba was detained after he tried to  confront his live-in partner, Prima Pesalbon, who works as a saleslady in a store owned by American Charles Bowers.

Amaba, however, attacked the owner’s  pregnant live-in partner, Daisy Regala with a piece of wood when the pregnant woman  tried to stop Amaba from entering the store. The American owner later subdued  Amaba and turned him over  to the police last Friday.
