Tropical storm “Bavi” which is approaching the country from the Pacific Ocean has slowed slightly, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said yesterday.
According to its 11 a.m. advisory, the state weather agency said Bavi is located 2,600 kilometers east of Bicol Region as of 10 a.m.
Bavi packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 100 kph. It is moving west northwest at 20 kph from last Saturday’s 30 kph.
Bavi is “too far to affect any part of the country,” the state weather agency said.
When it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday, it will be named “Betty.”
