CEBU CITY, Philippines — It’s all systems go for the much-awaited return of the annual St. Ignatius Run that will fire off on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the G Mall of Cebu.
Over 2,000 runners are expected to answer the starting gun according to race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running to mark the first face-to-face fun run of this annual sports event after the on-set of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The running event is organized by Sacred Heart School (SHS) Batch 1998 that is also celebrating its silver Jubilee year.
There are five distances featured in tomorrow’s footrace that kicks off at 4:30 a.m.
These are 16-kilometers, 10k, 5k, 3k, and 1k distances. Cash prizes await the top three male and female finishers in the 16k, 10k, and 5k, while the shorter distances of 3k and 1k will not be a competitive race.
Also, the first 100 finishers in the 5k and 10k categories will receive a finisher’s medal. In addition, there will be an SHS Alumni and student categories that will award the top five finishers with trophies.
The running event serves as one of the major charitable activities lined-up by Batch 1998. It aims to raise funds to sustain their scholarship program for the SHS-AdC and the SHS-AdC Alumni Association. / dcb
