LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — This year’s fluvial procession of the miraculous image of the Nuestra Señora de la Regla will still begin at the Roro Port in Barangay Poblacion, Cordova.
Cordova Mayor Cesar “Didoy” Suan made the announcement on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Suan said he made a request for Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan and the Fiesta 2023 organizing committee to again include their town in this year’s fluvial procession route.
“Ug kaloy-an sa Diyos, gani sila maoy nihagad ug balik and I’m so happy nga ila tang giapil,” Suan said.
The annual feast of the miraculous image is scheduled on November 20 to 21 of each year.
For the first time, the Roro Port in Poblacion, Cordova was selected as the starting point of the fluvial procession in 2022. The same will also be done this year, Suan said.
In the past years, the fluvial procession started at a resort in Barangay Subabasbas in Lapu-Lapu City. But the resort was badly damaged by Super Typhoon Odette on December 16, 2021 which prompted the city government to look for another place.
This year’s fluvial procession, scheduled on November 12, is set to start at 7 a.m.
Mayor Suan said that this early, they have already starting with their preparations for the fluvial procession.
“Naa guro tay final nga meeting together sa atong tourism [office], together with some department heads sa atong committee nga na-assign, para mahan-ay nato kung asa ipamutang ang mga mosugat,” he added.
