Streaking Nocos bags title in Citi Green Tennis Cup

Lapu-Lapu City’s Tiffany Claire Nocos showed no signs of slowing down after she captured the 10-Under Unisex Division title of the 2015 Citi Green Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the Citigreen Tennis Resorts in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Just weeks after wining the same crown in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age-group in Consolacion town, northern Cebu, Nocos once again flashed her dominant form in besting John Christopher Sonsona, 4-0, 5-4, in their championship match yesterday.

Naga City’s Shyne Villareal, one of B.R.I.G.H.T. Academy’s top junior lady tennis stars, secured two finals seats after she disposed of her semifinal pponents in the Girl’s 16 and 18-Under competitions.

Villareal dispatched Mary Aubrey Calma of Cagayan de Oro, 10-5, to advance to the Girls 16-U finals. She will next face the winner between the other semifinal match between Naga City’s Zethley Mae Alferez and Elizabeth Abarquez, who were still playing as of this writing.

Villareal also made ito the finals Girl’s 18-Under division after she dominated University of the Visayas’ Sheena Camporedondo, 10-5.

Cagayan de Oro’s Clyde Mari Casino, for his part, barged into the Boys 16-Under division finals following a 10-5 victory over Duma Hakim Boloto.

The Digos, Davao del Sur-native Jyle Cyrin Martinez also secured a finals berth in the 14-under boys division after a 10-6 win over UC’s Marc Nicole Suson.

Martinez will next meet Jace Unto, who scored a 10-8 win over John Steven Sonsona of Tubod, Lanao del Sur.

The 12-Under Boy’s finals, on the other hand, will have CdO’s Justin Yepes going up against Gabriel Traso of Asturias, Cebu.

Yepes and Traso secured final seats after beating separate semifinal foes with the former trashing Harland Hogan, 10-5, and the latter  nipping Marawi City’s Prince Najeeb Languitao, 10-4.
