A Cebu city  revenue collection officer was suspended for one month due to her failure to liquidate  cash advances amounting to P371,349.27 since 2011.

Julieta Marquita, a designated special disbursing officer of the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), was  found administratively guilty of simple neglect of duty by the Ombudsman for failing to liquidate her cash advances on time.

The order dated April 10 was received by Marquita only this month.

The mayor’s chief of staff lawyer Dominic Dino said the suspension takes effect after she receives it.

Sabiniano Cabatuan of the Commission on Audit (COA) earlier said  Marquita committed grave misconduct when he found a shortage of P371,349.27 upon examination of Marquita’s cash and accounts last March 29, 2011.

The Ombudsman upheld Marquita’s explanation that she didn’t use the funds for her own personal gain.

The  cash advance was distributed to  department heads of City Hall for a street lighting activity.
