60-year-old man dead after being hit by govt vehicle

A 65-year-old man died after he was hit by a government-owned vehicle along the national highway of sitio Buntol, barangay Montañeza, Malabuyoc, Cebu last Sunday morning.

SPO3  Mario Paler, deputy chief of Malabuyoc Police, said the victim identified as Rofino Villarojo Ramirez sustained severe head injuries after being hit by a Toyota Innova with plate number SKC-747.

The vehicle bore the seal of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) driven by Sarbino Barbadillo Sesiban,56.

Sesiban, a driver and audio visual technician of PIA, brought Ramirez to the nearest hospital for medication. Ramirez was later transferred to Cebu City but died due to the wounds he acquired.

Police said the victim was hit after he suddenly crossed the highway. Sesiban personally surrendered to the Malabuyoc Police and was detained overnight.

He was later released after a settlement has been reached. The vehicle was also released from police custody.
