Police arrested a man and confiscated illegal drugs worth at least P50,000 in a raid in barangay Calamba, Cebu City yesterday.

Senior Insp. Delfin Bontuyan of the Criminal and Investigation Detection Group (CIDG-7) said they caught Arturo Rodrigo, 30, trying to escape through the ceiling of the house owned by Sadam Laurenciana.

A pack of suspected shabu was allegedly found in Rodrigo’s pocket.

The police had a warrant to search the house, a two-storey structure on A. Lopez Street.

Laurenciana, who was the target of the raid,  has been classified by the CIDG-7 as a level 2 drug pusher, or one who can dispose of 200 grams of shabu in a week.

He was not home when the raid was conducted.

Rodrigo denied being Laurenciana’s cohort. He said he was a stay-in carpenter hired by Laurenciana.

Bontuyan said they destroyed the steel gate of Laurenciana’s house to gain entry.

During the raid, Bontuyan said they found inside one of the rooms a knapsack with a big pack and five sachets of suspected shabu.

The alleged illegal substance weighed at least 7 grams and was estimated to have a street value of at least P50,000.

Rodrigo is being detained at the CIDG-7 detention cell pending the filing of charges against him.
