AFTER being away from the spotlight for quite some time, former beach volleyball queen Jusabelle Brillo makes a return to the sandcourt as she suits up for Meralco in the PLDT Home Ultera-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2015, which starts  July 18 at the Sands By the Bay in SM Mall of Asia.

The surprise announcement was made during the event’s launching on Thursday.

Brillo started to make a name for herself when she and Janez Ygot helped catapult the University of the Visayas (UV) to the crown in the Nestea Beach Volley back in 2007.

She also won a gold medal in the 2013 Philippine National Games beach volley competition when she paired up with another Nestea title-holder, Apple Saraum.

Later that year, the duo then went on to represent the country in the Southeast Asia Volleyball Championships in Thailand.

Just recently, Brillo and Saraum ruled the Rider Sandals Beach Volleyball Tournament in Compostela town, north Cebu.

In this tournament, Brillo will be pairing up with University of Santo Tomas (UST) standout Jem Gutierrez.

They will be up against a packed field that is being bannered by the Cignal A pair of Cha Cruz and Micmic Laborte, Petron’s XCS’ Gretchen Ho and Charo Soriano and Alexa Micek and Fille Cayetano-Cainglet for Petron Sprint 4T.

Meralco has been grouped in Group C with Beneco and the Foton Tornadoes.

Gilligan’s, a team manned by former Cesafi beach volley champion Danika Gendrauli and Norie Diaz, is in Group D with Petron Sprint 4T, Cignal A and the Foton Hurricanes.
