With the 15th season of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) just around the corner, players, coaches and staff are expected to be on their best behavior. Should they not, heavy penalties are in store after the addendum to the league’s rules and regulations was approved by the board of trustees during their meeting earlier this week.

Fines, suspensions and community service will be rendered by erring parties. Players guilty of unethical conduct during the game will merit an ejection, a one-game suspension and community service of four hours. Should this incident happen after the game, the player shall be suspended for a game and will be made to render community service of four hours.

Subsequent offenses merit even tougher penalties such as a season-long suspension and community service of 16 hours.

Unsportsmanlike conduct done before or after the game will not also be condoned as those found guilty will be slapped with a five-game suspension, a fine of P2,000 and community service of eight hours. Unsportsmanlike behavior done during the game will merit a one-game suspension, a P5,000 fine and community service of 16 hours for the erring party.

These sanctions are applicable to the basketball, football and volleyball events and will be effective immediately this season which begins on August 1 at the Cebu Coliseum.

In addition, the league also announced that the Basic Life Support Seminar will be conducted on July 22 while a referees refresher course will be staged on July 25 and 26. These events shall be held at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu gym along Mango Avenue.
