Sinulog 2014 tickets come with slings, QR codes

By: Bjorn Abraham Tabanera, Chito O. Aragon January 07,2014 - 11:41 AM

ASIDE from containing QR (Quick Response) codes, tickets for grandstand seats for the Sinulog Grand Parade at the Cebu City Sports Center will also come with slings that can be worn like an ID.

Information embedded in the QR code, which can be scanned and read by a smartphone, will reflect a series number, the ticket buyer’s name and his address.

Ticket buyers will be asked to register this information upon purchase.

“The ticket can also be preserved as a souvenir by the buyer,” said Sinulog Foundation Inc. executive director Ricky Ballesteros.

Tickets may be bought at the Sinulog Foundation office at the Cebu City Sports Complex from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Tickets are priced at P800, P1,000, P1,200, and P2,500 for VIP seats.

Some ticket prices have increased by P200 from last year.

The blue section set aside for balikbayans at P2,500 was increased from P1,500 last year.

Ballesteros said seven LED screens will be installed along the parade route and at the sports center to live stream the Sinulog parade and dance presentations.

Muslim leaders assured Cebu police of their support for a peaceful observance of the Sinulog during a conference at Camp Sergio Osmeña yesterday.

Abbas Fatima Morad, president of the Mandaue Islamic Association, said they share the hopes of Cebuanos to celebrate the annual religious and cultural event peacefully.

Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, Police Regional Office (PRO-7) chief, said help desks will be set up in strategic places in Cebu City.
