EVEN if the main office of the Visayan Electric Company (Veco) in Banilad is completely damaged from a fire, terrorist attack or natural calamity, its supply of electricity to cities and customer services can still readily continue.
This was proven with Veco’s Banilad Zero simulation recently.
“Veco aims to resume the Banilad office’s business operations within 24 hours after a destructive event or disaster,” said Reputation Enhancement Department head Jill Verallo.
At 5:30 a.m. on October 8, the Crisis Management Plan for the Loss of Facility of the main office of Veco was activated.
The Banilad office houses key departments like the Veco Call Center and Engineering.
With the activation of Banilad Zero, the company’s personnel immediately set up workstations in designated sites to continue its services. Veco has around 260 employees in Banilad alone.
With the official start of the workday at 8 a.m., all customer calls were then diverted to their sister company Davao Light and Power Company while the Veco call center was still being set up. By 11 a.m., call center operations were up and running.
At 9 a.m., all administrative work and partial operation started.
By 2 p.m., all operations were declared fully running and there were no reported incidents of customers being affected.
