Ombud asked to enforce dismissal on solon
THE Ombudsman and the House Committee on Ethics were asked to enforce the dismissal order against Rep. Rodrigo Abellanosa of Cebu City’s south district.
Philip Banguiran, who filed the complaint against Abellanosa at the Ombudsman in 2012, said the two offices should enforce the order given that the congressman filed his candidacy for reelection.
A similar letter was also sent to Joaquin Chipeco Jr., chairperson of the Committee on Ethics of the House of Representatives in Congress.
The Ombudsman found Abellanosa guilty of grave misconduct and ordered for his dismissal from service with cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits and perpetual disqualification for reemployment in government service.
Banguiran also recently filed a disqualification complaint against Abellanosa at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Abellanosa was dismissed after it was found out that his school, the Asian College of Technology, was a major beneficiary of Cebu City Hall’s scholarship program during his tenure as city councilor.
Abellanosa’s camp earlier said they will contest the dismissal order at the Court of Appeals.
