Old man trapped in burning house
A 71-year-old man died after he was trapped in his burning house in Moalboal town, southern Cebu last Friday morning.
The charred remains of Dionisio Umagak were found in the ground floor of the two-story house.
Police said Umagak had previously suffered from a heart attack and had difficulty moving about. His weak physical condition may have prevented him from getting out of the burning house.
An electrical overload could have started the fire at the second floor of the house at 11:30 a.m., said PO1 Welmar Bulahan.
Umagak was alone at home when the fire broke out.His 69-year-old wife Emerciana had left to buy food for their lunch, said Bulahan. The house was about four kilometers from the fire station.
But by the time firefighters arrived, the house was destroyed. Property damage was pegged at P10,000.
