Liloan, Danao cited for anti-drug drive
TOWNS, cities and police precincts in Cebu received awards from the provincial government’s anti-drug abuse commission for their efforts in eliminating the drug menace in their respective areas.
Liloan town was cited for having the Best Performing Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council and Best Performing Municipal Police Station by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC).
Danao City was given the Best Performing City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Award and Best Performing City Police Station Award.
Each awardee received a trophy and P200,000 for the recognition.
The awarding ceremony was the highlight of the first-year implementation of the “Just Say No” program and the celebration of Drug Awareness and Prevention Week.
The “Just Say No” program is a program conceptualized by the CPADAC and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) to unite local governments, police, schools, parents, youth and businesses to reduce or eradicate drug abuse in the province.
“For the most part, we are just really active in following the guidelines in the scorecard,” Liloan Mayor Duke Frasco said.
Local government units are evaluated based on their strategies for drug demand and supply reduction.
The Liloan municipal anti-drug abuse council garnered a score of 130.5 out of 200 while the Danao City anti-drug abuse council got a score of 139.
Liloan municipal police station got a score of 34 out of 100 and the Danao City police station got 30.8.
Out of 49 participating local governments, 44 were evaluated as below average while five were found satisfactory.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III called on Cebu’s residents to join the government’s campaign against illegal drug dealers.
