Faves march to semis of USC Sinulog hoops

ALL BUT one of the top four seeds advanced to the semifinals in Division 3 of the 2016 University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Sinulog Homecoming Cup last weekend at the USC North Campus gym.

The top-ranked 2008 Flyboys nipped the 2004 Rebels, 69-61, behind crafty guard NJ Otida, who scored 15, hulkingDon Adlawan, who added 14, and former USC Warriors skipper Nico Magat, who chipped in 11.

The second-seeded 2011 Elevens also made the Final Four after annihilating the 2014 Underdogs, 65-42. The reigning champions got 17 from Prince Malana and 11 from Lorenzo Bacaltos.

Meanwhile, the third-ranked 2007 Waybus eked past the 2005 Chameleons, 70-65 on Nick Justo’s 19 points.

The fifth-seeded 2010 Pioneers got a new lease on life as they sent their quarterfinal match-up against the fourth-ranked 2006 Fury to a winner-take-all match this Saturday after scoring a thrilling 83-80 double-overtime win.
