THE cease-and-desist order and notice of violation against William Yoda, the Indonesian coal supplier, for stockpiling coal in a private lot in San Fernando town,  southern Cebu has been served last Thursday to Armen, the lot’s caretaker.

William Cuñado, regional director of Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-7), told Cebu Daily News the CDO has stopped the hauling operations of coal from the private lot in Sitio Lacaron, Barangay Pitalo.

This despite the promise of Armen to remove the  stockpiled coal by March 20.

Armen earlier said that they needed to haul at least 50 to 60 truckloads of coal to completely remove the 1,000 tons of  coal stored in the lot.

With the CDO, Armen said the March 20 deadline to remove the coal may be affected.

But Cuñado said this will be discussed during their technical conference set on March 10 in their regional office in Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Armen earlier said that he will attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, Engineer Dino Selma of Anseca Development Corp. (ADC), said he wants to clear the company’s name after the agency  stated in its report that the company owns the private lot where the coal is stored.

Selma, on behalf of ADC,  denied ownership of  the lot.

In an earlier interview, the caretaker denied that ADC is the owner of the lot. He identified Mega Assets Inc., which is ADC’s sister company, as the one leasing the lot.

The coal, which was meant for a Bataan power plant, was stockpiled  in the lot last year after Yoda’s company failed to deliver it due to bad weather.
