Rama to talk garbage with brgy. captains

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita March 12,2016 - 09:18 PM

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama will meet with the city’s 80 barangay captains to discuss concerns on the situation of the garbage collection and disposal in the city.

“This is leading towards a paradigm shift and this is on Gubat sa Basura,” Rama told reporters on Thursday.

Rama said the meeting will be in the Rama Compound in Barangay Basak, San Nicolas on Sunday.

Rama earlier announced the takeover of the garbage collection of Barangays Guadalupe, Tejero and Labangon after he personally saw piles of uncollected garbage in these areas.

Aside from the meeting, Rama also wanted the roads and streetlights fixed in Barangays Pasil, Suba, Sawang Calero, Pahina San Nicolas and Pahina Central.

He ordered engineer Apollo Dante of the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) to inspect the area again and look at how this can be carried out.

Rama noticed the potholes on the roads in the barangays during his Thursday morning run through these barangays while accompanied by acting Cebu City Police chief Benjamin Santos Jr., Police Regional Chief Manuel Gaerlan, barangay officials and police officers from Police Station 6.

Engineer Dante, for his part, told Cebu Daily News in an interview last Thursday that they have already inspected the roads in the barangays.

“These are just potholes, very minimal. We will be doing patching works on these roads with asphalt,” he said.
