USC victorious in trash talk-filled game against Velez
THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) Warriors defeated Velez College, 18-14, in a heated game in the 3rd Cebu Flag Football League (CFFL) Inter-Collegiate Tournament last Sunday at the UC-METC field.
Organizers threatened to have the game forfeited because of excessive exchange of trash-talk not only between the two teams but also the organizers.
“Ila pa mi gi ingnan na mga bogo mi (They even told us we were dumb),” tournament manager Emily Rellita said. “We warned them but they still continued.”
Organizers thought of stopping the game but as there was little time left in the countdown to the game’s end, play was allowed to resume.
Rellita, however, said that should this kind of attitude continue in future games, they would take disciplinary action.
USC thus coasted to its fifth win of the season without a loss. Velez, on the other hand, suffered its second loss against five wins.
In other games, the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars defeated Bogo City’s Felipe Verallo College in the first game, 38-12, while the Southwestern
University (SWU) Cobras posted a 26-0 rout against Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) in the second game.
SWU still shares the top spot with USC in the standings with unblemished 5-0 slates.
