A Malaysian student studying in one of the universities in Cebu was arrested last Saturday after she attacked two barangay tanods in Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City.

Nathne Durga Aravatzi, 23, was arrested after she bit barangay tanods Gean Paulo Taneo, 42, and Mark Cagasan, 18,  when they tried to calm her down after an argument over rent payment with Hipolito Lagahid, the owner of the boarding house she was staying in.

PO3 Cliffton Manogura of Cebu City Police Station 2 told Cebu Daily News in a phone interview that Lagahid sought the barangay’s help when Aravatzi started getting rowdy after their argument.

Manogura said when barangay tanods  Taneo and Cagasan arrived and tried to calm Aravatzi down, she instead attacked them.

Manogura said Aravatzi bit the hands of the two tanods. Taneo was bitten on the left thumb while Cagasan had bite marks on his right hand.

Aravatzi is a biology student in a university in Cebu City.

She was detained at the Tourist Police Unit of the Cebu City Police Office pending the filing of physical injuries charge.

Police have also informed the Malaysian Embassy about the incident.
