THREE persons were injured in a road accident in Barangay Hagnaya, San Remegio town, northern Cebu at around 7 a.m. yesterday.

The victims were Melchor Ellot, 54; his 20-year-old daughter Angel Mae, both from Hagnaya; and Nicholas Mangubat Jr., 40, the driver of wing van from Barangay Cancabe, Bantayan Island.

The victims were brought to the hospital for treatment.

PO2 Rino Inso of San Remegio Police Station said Mangubat was travelling downhill on his way to the Hagnaya port to deliver the truckload of beer to Bantayan Island, but upon reaching near the port, the vehicle’s brake malfunctioned.

As a result, the wing van hit the concrete barrier of a parking lot.

The concrete barrier fell on the parked vehicles, including a Toyota vios, Isuzu wagon and a Honda motorcycle.

The Ellots sustained injuries after being hit by broken bottles.
