THE annual Rose Pharmacy Chess Classic Open Chess Tournament will be held on May 1, Labor Day at the School of Chess along P. Del Rosario St., Cebu City.
Organized by chess patron Bojie Lim, the tournament will award P5,000 to the champion in the seven-round Swiss system competition with 25 minutes playing time each round. The second placer will get P3,000 while the third placer will receive P1,000. The 4th-10th placers will pocket P300 each.
The top two kiddies and lady players will win P700 and P300, respectively.
Tie-breaks will be decide by direct encounter, Bucholz and median Bucholz scoring. Play starts at 9:30 a.m.
Registration fee for the open category is P200 and P100 for the kiddies and ladies’ entries. The tournament will be handled by FIDE Arbiter Marvin Ruelan.
