A 13-YEAR-OLD committed suicide in a secluded area in Sitio Lumboy, Barangay Mabuli of Tabogon, Cebu at dawn Wednesday.
Neighbors found James (not his real name) hanging from a tree with plastic straws tied around his neck.
PO3 Aldwin Pepito said the boy’s mother believed her son got depressed because she would not allow him to visit his father who was confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.
The boy was last seen at around 7 p.m. of May 17 after he ate his supper, Pepito said.
His brother told police that he looked for James but gave up, thinking that James was watching TV at their neighbor’s place.
James tried to commit suicide twice, said Pepito, quoting the boy’s family.
The boy’s remains were brought to the Bogo City District Hospital and later transferred to the Tinggoy Funeral Homes in the same city.
His parents refused to let their son undergo an autopsy, Pepito said.
