Montoya rules Martinez chess tilt

EDSEL Montoya topped the open division of the 10th Junie Martinez Open Chess Tournament held in Bogo City, North Cebu last weekend.

Montoya ruled the tournament by finishing with 8.0 points. He brought home the top purse of P6,000.

Merben Roque and Ramil Wadim were tied with 7.5 points but the former had a bigger tie break score to take second place honors and the P4,000 cash prize. Wadim finished third and won P2,000.

Dione Patrick Miñoza, meanwhile, dominated the fourth district category by scoring 7.0 points. Gerrick Matt Caesar Sayud topped the under-17 division while Kristina Elaine Tubigon ruled the 13-under class.
