KALYESERYE darlings Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards were hailed as the “Most Beautiful Stars of 2016” by Yes! Magazine.
After nine months, Maine and Alden are on the cover of the entertainment and lifestyle magazine again, after appearing on the front page of its November issue last year for the accidental phenomenon AlDub love team, then freshly hatched from the longest running noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”
For topping the most coveted 100 Most Beautiful Stars list, they are the first pair to grace the special issue of Yes! Magazine, joining the ranks of special issue cover celebrities John Lloyd Cruz, KC Concepcion, Anne Curtis, Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, Sarah Geronimo, Judy Ann Santos, Marian Rivera, Kim Chiu and Kris Aquino.
During the launching and unveiling of the special issue, Yes! Magazine editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon described the love team of Alden and Maine as the “hottest and most sought-after” pair today.
Recently marking her first anniversary in showbiz, Maine, in the press briefing, said it came as a surprise for her to be named along with Alden as most beautiful since she’s known to make distorted funny facial expressions in her Dubsmash.
Alden for his part said it’s a dream come true to grace the cover of the magazine again with Maine.
In Maglipon’s editor’s note, she said that the Aldub phenomenon happened as “an accident so welcome to so many who wanted romance and innocence and freshness back.”
“This kind of chemistry hasn’t hit the scene since Guy and Pip, and that was in the ‘70s!
AlDub seems to have come from nowhere: one from a five-year humdrum career, the other from a start-up social media app. They hadn’t even met, except for the one time she, as a fan, posed with him for a souvenir shot, nor had they known a thing about the other, except for the fact that she’s long had a crush on him from afar,” she wrote.
During the pictorial, Maglipon shared that the pair just came from an overnight shoot for their first big screen movie “Imagine You and Me” that was filmed in Italy.
“Imagine You and Me” hits theaters nation-wide today, July 13.
