A REGULAR employee of the Cebu Provincial Capitol may face dismissal after he tested positive for drugs, according to Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) Director Ivy Meca.
The employee, whose name is still withheld, was among the 30 regular employees and five job order workers of the Civil Service Unit (CSU) who underwent drug testing yesterday morning.
Meca said based on the Civil Service law, the employee will be dismissed without benefits. However, they will still wait for Gov. Hilario Davide III to determine the appropriate sanctions to be imposed on the erring employee.
Among those tested were employees assigned at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).
CSBT operations manager Joey Herrera said he would also request CPADAO to conduct a separate drug test for all bus and mini-bus drivers, personnel and contractors at the terminal.
He said that sanctions would be imposed if they are found positive of drug use.
“For the safety of the passengers, dili jud dapat mugamit og drugs (they should not use drugs). LTO can sanction them and suspend their driver’s license,” Herrera said. /USJ-R intern Dafne N. Wenceslao
