THE TEASER of the newest Kapamilya teleserye, “The Greatest Love” has been getting the attention of netizens for its uniquely intense trailer while some thought that the scene was similar to a Visayan short film.
The mind-blowing teaser showed an exchange of heated dialogue between the lead stars Sylvia Sanchez, Dimples Romana, Matt Evans, Arron Villaflor, and Andi Eigenmann while they are gathered in a dining table.
The teaser has earned the curiosity and praises of many, except for Cebu actress Badidi Labra, who was part of the short film entitled “Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang” (Mother of Perpetual Help). She voiced out her observations that the trailer has similarities to their film that became one of the entries in this year’s Sinulog Short Film Festival.
On her Facebook page, she posted a link of their short film and wrote a caption, “Parang deja vu teh at tinanong ko sarili ko bakit naudlot ang pag-iyak ko. Kaya pala, na-feel ko na ang feeling na ito nung nakita ko ang finish product ng Shortfilm na ginawa namin noong January pa[r]a sa Sinulog Shortfilm Festival.”
Then, she urged her Facebook friends and followers to watch it where the film showed a mother, who is also suffering from memory loss and three children, arguing in front of their dining table.
Like Sylvia’s character in the upcoming teleserye, the mother in the short film is also suffering from memory loss.
However, critically acclaimed writer Ricky Lee, at the press conference of “The Greatest Love” told Pep.ph that he was not aware of the issue and had not seen the short film himself.
Lee, the creative manager of the new television series, explained that the story was formed through brainstorming among their people.
“Hindi ko pinagtatanggol because wala akong alam dun sa short film and I doubt kung may idea rin ang creative team,” he clarified.
To further explain, Lee said about the dinner table scene, “It’s a very common situation sa buhay nating mga Pilipino ang nag-a-argue sa harapan ng table, lalo na may birthday o may big occasion, ang mga miyembro ng pamilya, nag-aaway-away.”
Lee said that the story features a woman, who wants a second chance to take care of her children, who are all grown-ups, while at the same time, following the path that could lead to her great love.
“So may dalawang kwento ang tinatahak niya, ang pagiging nanay at sa great love niya. Pero in the end, pamilya pa rin,” Lee said.
