INDEPENDENT film “Anino Sa Likod Ng Buwan (internatonal title: Shadow Behind The Moon)” will soon reach a wider audience.

Director Jun Lana in a Pep.ph interview confirmed that the internationally acclaimed independent film featuring LJ Reyes, Luis Alandy and Anthony Falcon will be released in selected cinemas starting tomorrow.

“We finally got confirmation for a July 20 playdate in Gateway Cinema here in Metro Manila and Gaisano cinemas in Davao, Toril, Tagum and Digos!,” he told Pep.ph news.

The daring film that set in Marag Valley during the 1990s, is tension-filled political thriller revolving around the story of the couple named Emma (played by LJ) and Nardo (played by Anthony) and soldier named Joel (played by Luis).

The independent film has turned heads, becoming famous for its 10-minute bed scene between lead actors LJ and Luis. The film premiered at last year’s Qcinema Film Festival.

In an Instagram post, Jun announced the screening of the film and reminded everyone to never patronize online piracy.

“After the long struggle to get ANINO SA LIKOD NG BUWAN in cinemas and dealing with the issue of online piracy that threatened the release of our film, we finally got confirmation for a July 20 playdate in GATEWAY CINEMA here in Metro Manila and GAISANO cinemas in Davao, Toril, Tagum and Digos! Thank you GATEWAY and GAISANO for supporting Philippine cinema. Please watch ANINO SA LIKOD NG BUWAN in their cinemas next week! Please share and help us spread the word! #SupportPhilippineCinema #HelpGetANINOinCinemas,” he wrote.

The critically acclaimed film also took part of international film festivals including Czech Republic’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July 2015, Germany’s Hamburg Film Festival in October 2015, and Poland’s Five Flavours Film Festival.

Lana got the Best Director awards for “Anino sa Likod ng Buwan” during the 20th International Film Festival in India last December 2015 and at the 13th Pacific Meridian Film Festival in Russia in September last year.

Lead actress LJ Reyes also won the Best Actress award at the 13th Pacific Meridian Film Festival and the same recognition at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2016 last March.

After the success of the film, Lana said he is planning to develop the film script into a theater production later this year. He plans to retain the two leading male actors while opting to conduct an audition for the lead female role.
