SIX INTERNATIONAL teams will be joining the Ronda Pilipinas 2014, which will be held Feb. 1 to 16 in 11 different venues in the country.
The foreign teams are Matrix Powertag of Japan, Global Cycling Team of Holland, Team Gusto of Taiwan, the Malaysian National Cycling Team, the multi-national CCN team and team Korea.
The foreigners will be traversing some of the most treacherous routes in the country and not to mention the tough competition they will be going up against local teams Philippine Army, PLDT-Maynilad Pro Cycling team, Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance, Cycline Extreme, Road Bike Philippines and Cebu Kalit cycling team.
Cebu Kalit Cycling team will be composed of Warren Davadila, Tomas Martinex Jr. Oscar Rindole, Joseph Millanes, Lito Atillano and Elmer Navarro. The team will be headed by manager Rameses Urgel and officials Jay Mamites and Nilo Estayo.
Defending champion Irish Valenzuela will be racing under the banner of the Philippine Army, transfering from LPGMA-American Vinyl last year.
The first stage will be an 80-kilometer criterium race at the Quezon City Circle. The entire race will cover a total of distance of 1,895.1 kilometer. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
