RUMORS about Jaya’s transfer to ABS-CBN intensified when she became one of the judges of the contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan” of noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
And now the 45-year-old singer has confirmed that she has left GMA Network to start a new journey with the Kapamilya station.
“I think there was a period in my career, in my life, that was pretty dark,” she explained in an interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda” aired on Wednesday, explaining her transfer to ABS-CBN.
Jaya shared during the interview that now that she is looking forward with the new network describing it as part of God’s plans for her.
The Queen of Soul named singers Erik Santos and Kyla as the main people who helped her transition to ABS-CBN.
“I was kind of independent for 10, 11 months,” she revealed. “Then (Cornerstone) came up to me because of Erik Santos, I have to say I owe it a lot to him and I think Kyla also,” shared Jaya.
It was not confirmed yet if she will start performing in the Sunday variety show “ASAP.”
“Gusto kong magpasalamat sa ‘It’s Showtime’ for including me. I’m just so excited to be here on ABS-CBN. I’m excited to start my new life here,” she said.
In a Pep.ph news report, Cornerstone artist handler Cynthia Roque, she confirmed that Jaya will be a permanent judge in the noontime show’s singing competition where she will appear on the show weekly.
When PEP asked if Jaya will be an exclusive Kapamilya talent, no answer had been given yet.
Jaya was with GMA Network for 16 years. She was part of the network’s Sunday noontime shows “SOP” (2000-2010), “Party Pilipinas” (2010-2013), and “Sunday All Stars” (2013-2015). She also appeared on television series like “Mga Basang Sisiw” (2013), “Yagit” (2014), “MariMar” (2015) and “Poor Señorita” that aired its last episode last July 15.
According to Pep.ph, there were reports that Jaya was about to leave GMA after auditioning for ABS-CBN’s “Your Face Sounds Familiar” but failed to pass the screening.
