WEATHER INCONVENIENCES

Class suspensions and closure of offices due to bad weather don’t always sit well with college students and employees, respectively.

A college student posted on her Facebook account that she might as well just swim to school since floodwaters rose near their house.

A call center agent said the labor force may be considered as “immortals” since they can brave the rain and flood in going to their offices.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

The Philippines’ bet for Miss Universe was criticized for her inadequate English speaking skills, with some saying it may lead to her early exit in the pageant.

While some suggested an interpreter, one girl said the criticism against the Philippine candidate stemmed from the flawed observation that English proficiency is equated with intelligence.

SINULOG PARTIES

A city mayor’s Facebook post on the Sinulog had made the rounds on social media, drawing both likes and dislikes.

His Facebook post showed him in a photo with his granddaughter who supposedly asked him why there are classes on Monday.

The mayor answered: “To make you regret partying on Sunday.” The mayor has been very vocal against rowdy street parties during the Sinulog.
