FIVE days after its theater release, “Love You To The Stars and Back” has already earned P60 million.
Its film director Antoinette Jadaone announced the box-office gross via her Instagram account (@tonet_jadaone) last Tuesday.
“MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO! Walang koneksyon sa gross ng pelikula haha pero pagbigyan n’yo na poooo. I will always remember LYSB with the fondest of memories,” Jadaone said.
Moreover, she reveals that she won’t easily get over the story of Mika (Julia Barretto) and Caloy (Joshua Garcia) in the film “Love You To The Stars and Back”—the same way she felt for the story of Mace (Angelica Panganiban) and Anthony (JM De Guzman) in the romantic comedy “That Thing Called Tadhana” which became a hit in 2015.
“Paulit ulit kong pinapanood sa iba’t ibang sinehan, dinadama bawat panood, hindi ako makasulat ng bagong kwento. Kasi ganun ko nagustuhan ang
experience ng paggawa at pagluwal sa pelikulangiyon. Tulad ngayon,” Jadaone added.
She thanked all those who watched the movie and made noise on social media.
“Kasama kayo sa babaunin kong magandang alaala nitong pelikula. P.S Salamat @garciajoshuae at @juliabarretto sa natatanging pagganap. Fan n’yo ko,” Jadaone said.
“Love You To The Stars and Back,” which opened on Aug. 30, is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
This is the second film of Barretto and Garcia as a love team after “Vince and Kath and James,” shown during the Metro Manila Film Festival last year.
In a nutshell, “Love You To The Stars and Back” is about “aliens and young love” —about cancer-stricken Caloy and Mika who copes with the death
of her mother.
The film also stars Carmina Villaroel, Cherry Pie Picache, Ariel Rivera and Edgar Allan Guzman.
