ROUGHLY two weeks after their dominant wins in the grueling 80-kilometer Kawasan Falls Ultramarathon in Badian town, south Cebu, the tandem of Desiderio “Sano” Engbino and Edilberto Batiancila of the vaunted Spectrum Runners Club Cebu put on another stellar outing by placing first and second place, respectively, in the TEAM ADR’s Cebu North 50-kilometer Ultramarathon last Saturday in Bogo City.
The 48-year-old Boholano Engbino, who is the grand slam champion of the Bataan Death March Ultramarathon, finished the running event in three hours and 55 minutes to outrun 211 other participants in the long distance running event.
Batiancila, 45, finished second by clocking in 4:04 despite having a plantar fasciitis injury.
The long-distance running event was organized by Team ADR for the benefit of triathlete policeman PO2 Brian Lou Guillen, who is still recovering from impaired awareness after suffering a severe heat stroke in last year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Cebu.
