Another Cebuano is making noise internationally. And he’s just 10 years old.

William Riley Tiu Go, a fifth grader of the Saint Benedict Childhood Education, emerged third overall in the cadet division of the 2018 X30 Southeast Asia Challenge at the Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand last Sunday.

Go, the son of Cebuanos Wendell and Virna Go, has been campaigning abroad for the past few years to enhance his racing skills and has actually carried the country’s tri-colors in various international racing events. One of them was last Sunday’s race that featured the best young karters of the Southeast Asian region.

Go, racing under Piers Sexton Racing (PSR), finished topped the last leg of the year-round international karting series to bag 45 points. He finished third overall after accumulating a total of 110 points while competing in five of the six legs. He could have topped the overall standings and clinched the title if he didn’t skip the third leg last May, where he decided instead to train in Mariembourg, Belgium.

Compatriot Zachary David of I.S Racing emerged as the overall champion in the cadet division by scoring a total of 152 points while Thai Limnantharak Sitarvee of Maxima Motorsports claimed the second overall spot with 128 points.

Go’s training abroad is supported by his parents with the help of Jody Coseteng, who invited them to join Team PSR, a British karting team under coach Piers Sexton.

When he is in Cebu, Go is trained by renowned Filipino karting coach Edgen Dy-Liacco, who recently conducted a karting clinic at the Kartzone in partnership with Petron Corporation.

Go’s next big race will be this October 8 to 14 in Le Mans, France.
