Farm manager in Barili, Cebu killed
CEBU CITY, Philippines—A man working as a maintenance manager on a farm in Barili, Cebu was killed in a stabbing incident on Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2023.
The victim was identified as Leopoldo Carcueva Emotin, 71 years old, who, according to a police report, was a Maintenance Manager for a farm based in Brgy. Gunting, Barili for seven years.
The suspect, Samuel Marata Bayadog, surrendered to police after committing the crime. Bayadog, 24, was a resident of Brgy. Budbod in Barili.
Initial investigations revealed personal grudge may be behind the crime as the suspect used to work in the farm as a poultry boy. However, he was terminated allegedly due to bad behavior.
Barili police received the report of a stabbing incident at around 4:35 p.m. on Sunday. Further investigations also showed that the victim was inside his quarters when the suspect attacked him.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds on his neck, head, chest and arms, the police said. The suspect was brought to the Barili police station for detention while waiting for the complaint to be filed against him before the prosecutor’s office.
