The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Cebu Council inducted its new officers and board members last Thursday.

Rama also inducted the council’s executive board members, namely lawyers Jocelyn Pesquera and Manuel Legaspi, Dr. Rosalinda Quijada, Frederick Ong III and Dominic Pelay.
Gov. Hilario Davide III inducted the new BSP Cebu Council officers, namely, Anthony Baduel, chairperson; lawyer Amadeo Seno Jr. first vice chairperson; Agnes Magpale, second vice chairperson; Fr. Vincent Ramon Jr., OAD, treasurer; Oscar Canton, assistant treasurer; Noel Alicaya, auditor; and Dr. Virginia Zapata, commissioner.
All the inductees were awarded with a plaque. They swore to uphold the scout’s oath and laws.
Former BSP Cebu Council chairman Hernando Streegan was cited for his contributions to the boy scout movement.
Seno, in his welcome speech, said Streegan “brought the Cebu council to its golden age, making it one of the best Boy Scout councils in the Philippines.”
Streegan, chairman of the council from 2003 until this year, was bestowed the title of Chairman Emeritus.
Because of his efforts, the council was able to establish a permanent headquarters. Membership flourished under his leadership.
“Mr. Streegan brought us into our golden age. I don’t think I can fill half his shoes. Instead, I choose to follow in his footsteps,” said Baduel, a lawyer, during his acceptance speech.
Magpale said the new leadership “hopes to continue the legacy of the Cebu Council being the best council.”/Admu intern Shaneika Edryce T. Lim
