The fifth edition of Gaisano Anniversary Run will offer something new when it fires off on Oct. 30 at the Gaisano County Mall parking area in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

As a new treat, the run, which is part of the 23rd anniversary celebration of Gaisano Country Mall, will have a bubbles-and-foam theme.

“The bubble foam theme is part of some of the changes this year. There will be a minor change in the route. We will avoid Fuente Osmeña because there’s traffic there even
on weekends,” said race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (Safe) in a press conference yesterday at the Lighthouse Restaurant.

The race will have four categories — the men’s and women’s 21-kilometer, 15K, 10K and 5K.

Charmine Suon-Nograles, Store Operations Manager, said they will be putting up two foam stations in the race. One will be at the starting and finish area and another one along the route.

Also in the press briefing were Supermarket Manager Sheryl Sia, Foodish Director for Operations Wylie Chavez and Operation Mobilisation (OM) Philippines national director Sally Ababa.

OM Philippines, the beneficiary of the event for three consecutive years, is working with the marginalized and poor, indigenous ethnic groups and island and mountain ministries.

“Last year we received whiteboards, tables and chairs which are very helpful for the kids. For this year, we are doing outreach feeding program for the out-of-school youth. We need equipment for the feeding program,” said Ababa.

During the race, Foodish will be putting up a Food Festival with 35 different merchants.

A total of P100,000 cash prizes are at stake and raffle prizes will also be given away.

Finishers in the 21K will receive medals, while the first 100 finishers in the 15K will also get a medal.

Registration fee is at P350 for the 5K, P450 for the 10K, P550 for the 15K and P650 for the 21K inclusive of singlet, snacks, loot bag and raffle ticket. Registration is now ongoing at the Runnr Store in Ayala Center Cebu and at the customer service of Gaisano County Mall.
