ADDITIONAL funds for Cebu City’s garbage hauling and collection constitute the bulk of the P66 million second supplemental budget request addressed to the City Council.

Of that amount, about P47 million was requested by City Hall’s Department of Public Services to rent 21 dump trucks for garbage hauling and collection.

The second SB was referred to the budget and appropriations committee last Tuesday.

During yesterday’s hearing for the second SB, DPS asst. director John Paul Gelasque told the budget committee that they need additional trucks for next month until December since some of their old trucks are beyond repair.

“These trucks go beyond repair after two or three years because they are used regularly. If we opt to rent, everything is under the responsibility of the winning bidder,” he said.
