HPG counsel wants fiscal in Archival case out

LAWYER Inocencio de la cerna has asked for the inhibition of Lapu-Lapu City Deputy Prosecutor Rogelio Tagaan in the case against policemen of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) accused of killing Cebu lawyer Noel Archival.

He noted that both the prosecution and defense are contesting the prosecutor’s decision to indict three of five HPG officers for murder and multiple murder in the Feb. 18, 2014 slay.

De La Cerna is back in the picture after announcing last month that he has withdrawn as counsel of Senior Supt. Romualdo Iglesia and PO1 Alex Bacani, who were indicted. Yesterday he said Senior Insp. Joselito Lerion requested him to remain as his legal counsel.

“Let others think whatever they want. All I’m after is justice,” he said.

Lawyer Gloria Lastimosa-Dalawampu, counsel of the Archival family, said she filed a motion for reconsideration, asking the prosecutor to implead Chief Inspector Eduardo Mara and Galan, who were earlier cleared.
