ASIDE from the typhoid fever cases in Pinamungajan town, the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) is looking into another typhoid case in Borbon town, northern Cebu.

Rennan Cimafranca, head of the Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (RESU), said a three-year-old girl tested positive for typhoid fever in a Cebu City hospital while her four-year-old sister is undergoing examination to verify the cause of her ailment.

Both are from barangay Cadaruhan, Borbon town and have been confined in a hospital since last Friday. Two RESU members went to Borbon to check on the neighbors of the family to determine if they contracted the disease.

Cimafranca said the two children developed high fever, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhea and back pains.

Two weeks ago, two siblings of barangay Camugao, Pinamungajan town, southern Cebu died of typhoid fever.

The community’s water source was tested by the DOH-7 and results were  positive for fecal coliform.

DOH-7 has recorded 47 suspected cases and seven confirmed cases of typhoid fever in barangay Camugao.
