SHORTLY after the launch of the Hyundai Cebu South dealership last month, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) gave members of the media a chance to test the recently launched all-new Elantra compact sedan in Cebu.

Some of the country’s top motoring journalists were invited to drive the sixth-generation Elantra on a 158-kilometer route from Cebu City to Cebu province’s northernmost town of Daanbantayan.

HARI provided the media with a mix of 15 Elantra GLS and GL units for the drive up north to the posh Kandaya Resort in Daanbantayan through the Transcentral Highway.

The latest Elantra, a more durable and rigid version than previous generations, according to HARI, is equipped with a Euro 4 2.0 MPi engine that produces 152 PS of power and 192 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode.
