THE SEMIFINALS in Division 2 of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup is all set after the top-ranked teams breezed past their opponents in the quarterfinals last weekend at the USC North Campus gym.
The top-seeded 2002 Legendary Lions had no problem disposing of the 2003 Stallions, 59-45, to book a date in the Final Four with the 1997 Ronins, who authored the biggest upset of the playoffs when they ousted the reigning champions 2001 Dos Mil Uno, 60-52.
The other semis match-up will feature the Sipat ‘98, which beat the 1996 Chubbies, 71-66, behind the 18-point production of Criz Matunog. Standing opposite them will be the 1999rs which routed the 2000 Millennium, 82-67.
In Division 1, the reigning titleholders 1985 Legends will be taking on the 1994 Bulldogs while the 1993 Dragons will await the winner of the knockout match between the 1980 Chargers and the 1988 Barakos after the former defeated the latter, 63-56.
