The Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) wants to change its image and expand its clientele from veterans to the retail sector.

PVB Chairman Roberto de Ocampo said public perception of the bank was that of a government-run institution “exclusive for veterans and run by retired military generals.”

“In the past, not much was being done to correct this image,” he said during the inauguration of the bank’s newly renovated branch in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City on Thursday afternoon.

PVB has two branches in Cebu, the other one located in downtown Cebu City. The bank set aside P80 million for its rebranding campaign which includes expenses for advertisements as well as renovation costs for 60 branches nationwide.

While their primary market now are World War II veterans and government entities, they are slowly reaching out to more constituents including the retail sector.

De Ocampo said they want to eventually be known as a bona fide private commercial bank.
